Trashion Jam : an earth month celebration

What a fun collaborative event! Monday, April 30th at the Triple Door; the show starts at 7:30, but get there early to enjoy a complementary cocktail at the pre-show reception. Tickets are on sale now... 

Here's the premise: Stylists will get down and dirty for Earth Month by creating a “Trashion” look - a garment made from trash or recycled materials - and style up the hair & makeup for the runway. Each team will present their concept and materials on stage during the show, then judges will vote for Best Hair and Makeup, Best “Trashion” garment and Best Overall Look at the end of the night.

This is totally up my alley and I wish I could be there, but we'll be out of town on Monday, April 30th. If I were you, I would snap up a VIP booth for this event - split between 4 people that's only $125 each and it includes 2 bottles of wine! Someone please go and publish photos.

Seattle Trash Fashion Show

Hosted at the New York Fashion Academy in Ballard, the 9th Annual Recycled Art and Fashion Show played to a sold out and very enthusiastic audience.  Jason Darling of the Re-Store got the evening started, and then yielded the floor to Robin Worley, aka "Rayona Visqueen" of Haute Trash as mistress of ceremonies announcing each of the designs as they appeared on the runway.

The creativity and craftsmanship was out of this world - fashion forward, impeccably constructed and made from 100% trash!

 

The Green Chair Project submitted a trash art piece which will be shown through May 10th at Blowing Sands Glass, 5805 14th Ave NW in Seattle.  They also constructed an outfit from vertical blinds and both Carina and Scott strutted down the runway!

This was easily the most entertaining fashion show I've been to this year.  It was also well organized, well publicized and a lot of fun to attend.  If you're in the Bellingham area you get another chance to get in on the action Friday, April 30th.  Otherwise, subscribe to the Re-Store's mailing list so you don't miss next year's event!
