june challenge

I've challenged myself to make a skirt a day during the entire month of June, for a few reasons really...

1) to catch up on glam.spoon inventory after my 1st quarter carpet endeavor; 2) Cornerstone Collective's craft sale to prepare for on the 14th, and 3) I need to jump start my creativity!

these two skirts were inspired by a purse I found thrifting.  It was covered in these great handmade looking fabric flowers.  I googled the brand on the purse ("Chan Luu") and found that she is now focused on jewelry, but still dabbling in purses. IMG_7739

treasure hunting

this weekend's fabulous thrift store finds...
IMG_7738 i don't know how many yards of that lovely ruffled red crinolin trim there is, but certainly plenty for a very fancy skirt embellishment.  velvety tri-colored ribbon - big spool, lots of yardage - oodles of big brown buttons, vintage floral fabric, and who can't use another cuban cigar box?

SATC the movie

I promise myself never again to make a huge deal about a movie premier and waste a lot of time standing in line... at least not without my friends there too.  the Big night finally came and we had a great time at the show, but maybe more fun waiting in line with our crackers & cheese and french martinis (courtesy of the hostess-with-the-mostest, Jessica).  IMG_7733
We ended up with an extra ticket and I offered it to this sad soul, but he really was only there to try and get a date.

Cornerstone Collective

It's the beginning of craft sale season!  M_c770aa9d55cd4b682dfe23f909f3b5dfI will be selling new glam.spoon items as well as some clearance pieces from the Etsy site at a booth hosted by Cornerstone Collective on June 14th.  The space occupies the bottom floor of a house at the corner of Stone Way & 40th Ave North.  Check out their myspace page for more details and then come on down between 11 and 5 for some local handmade arts & crafts and a glass of champagne.

cross your fingers for sun!

color coded

it's not entirely unusual for me to gravitate toward the same colors in one weekend, especially pink and brown.  these three are made of silks and lace and ribbon candy details...

nature walk

I spent Wednesday and Thursday at Cave B Inn on a company retreat.  IMG_7654 Eastern Washington is just beautiful this time of year.  we hiked down to the water level and ended up behind the Gorge Amphitheater stage, and had a really steep climb back up.

biz cards

IMG_1147 I came across this photo of the prototype business cards my friend Margot made for me.  they're exactly what I wanted for my personal brand.  However, time constraints have forced me to simplify, so i've done away with the spool cut out and wrapped thread, and I pay Vista Print to create a thousand of them at once.

fluevog fashion show

Bouncing Wall  participated in the Fluevog Fashion Show on April 16th, and the lovely Kim put 3 of my items in the show!  I wasn't able to attend because it happened right at the tail end of our vacation, but I got the link to the pictures today and i've uploaded the best ones.  I don't know if any of them are still available at the shop...Fluevog 06

memories

singing last night brought back memories of bambaji.  my husband and I used to play in a ska band together, for about 5 years, but the band fizzled out 2003.  I actually met my husband because of an ad in the Stranger for a lead singer.  bambaji had a small but respectable local following, and played the Central and other venues once or twice a month.  now all our ex-band mates are married and having babies...

then today when we climbed into the crawl space of our house to assess the insulation problem, I saw a box of CD's shrink-wrapped and ready for retail. IMG_7607

if you want one, let me know - it'll just cost you shipping.  and believe it or not, our web site is still live.  bambaji

treasure hunting

although the weather has been glorious this weekend, nothing gets in my way of thrift store shopping.  the suburbs are highly underrated for such adventure, and here is a pic of my latest finds... vintage toile printed cotton fabric, martini cloth napkins, a sewing machine accessories tin and a cameo locket.
