On Monday night I attended the launch party for TomboyX's Kickstarter campaign aiming to raise $75K in 30 days to fund their first line of clothing which will be produced right here in Seattle. The first person I met as I walked through the hallway to the back room of Radar Hair + Records was the CEO, Fran Dunaway. Despite having no experience in the fashion industry, she approached the project with passion and determination and a laser focus. I'm here to tell you: she's sitting on a gold mine.
You may be thinking "Tina's such a girly-girl, why would she be interested in this Tomboy endeavor?" Well, first of all, I'm not always glamorous. I enjoy plenty of days when I tie my hair in a knot to get it out of my face, pull on comfortable pants and work boots and get stuff done around the house. I just don't photograph myself on those days!
And it is because I'm in the business of creating elaborate high fashion gowns for size zero models that I completely understand the need for comfortable, stylish clothing. TomboyX is committed to focusing on women over 40, creating clothing that is tailored to fit comfortably but still represents a fashionable attitude. I say more power to them!

What a great idea! I love men's shirts for the detailing and crisp collars but of course they'll never fit me. Will check out their kickstarter.
