PR: the skirt

using two types of carpet backing I created a shell of a skirt today.  the top of the skirt is created from the primary backing and it's pretty scratchy, but it was easy to sew.  the secondary backing was used to create the bubble hem, which I'm hoping will do the job of a hoop without an actual hoop.  I am happy with the volume so far and I think I can add two or three more layers to increase the fullness to the level of drama we're looking for.

Img_5056what's really nice is the sparkling sheen on both materials.  even better will be the addition of the gray and "hot pants pink" yarns as embellishment...
I just love the deconstruction look.
