a weekender

i love road trips.  it still amazes me that i can wake up in one state, drive for hours and end up in another.  i drove to Tigard, Oregon this weekend to lounge around the hotel suite while my husband was busy working.  i spent a liesurely day shopping for inspiration and found this romantic window display in the unlikeliest of shops: forever 21.

it reminded me of the image i have in my head of a skirt entirely covered in gathered satin ribbons in all different colors of silks. 

on the other end of the spectrum, i finally visited the gallery at the Oregon College of Art & Craft.  it's about 20 square feet with less than 15 pieces, but it was so worth it.  they wouldn't let me take photographs but you can view works by my favorite artist here: Lindsay K. Gates. strangely, the piece featured on the promotional postcard was the least interesting in person.  i also photographed this near the parking lot. i have no idea what it is - mushrooms?  erasers?
